A New Book and Some Holiday Fun!

Tuesday, December 5th, 2017

Feeling a little overwhelmed by your holiday to-do list? Well, sometimes the best way to feel a little less overwhelmed is to take some time for yourself…with a cup of hot cocoa and a book.

ipadvertical_768x1024deathgoesIf that sounds good to you, might I suggest the just-released AND DEATH GOES TO… (Tobi Tobias Mystery # 3)?  This book is chock full of laugh out loud moments that make that much needed “you” time even more fun!

From the back of the book:

The Tobias Ad Agency is in the running for the coveted Golden Storyboard, and Tobi couldn’t be more thrilled—until she discovers it’s literally an award to die for.

It’s an honor just to be nominated. But, let’s get real, Tobi wants to win. The St. Louis Advertising Awards are like the Oscars for her field, and Tobi is up for its most prestigious prize, Best Overall Ad Campaign. The competition is always fierce, but this year it’s killer . . .

Despite her high hopes, Tobi isn’t exactly shocked when she doesn’t win. But she is shocked when the winner, Deidre Ryan, takes the stage only to plummet to her death as a platform suddenly gives way. After the police discover foul play, Tobi’s Grandpa Stu wastes no time in nominating suspects. But was Deidre the intended victim—or was someone else meant to take the fatal fall? Now it’s a race to catch a killer in the spotlight, before another nominee gets the booby prize and Tobi gets trapped in a no-win situation.

AND DEATH GOES TO… is available in e-format ($5.99) and a trade paperback ($15)–both which can be purchased from all your favorite online book vendors. Purchase links can be found Here on my website.

Portrait of a Sister is Up For Preorder…& More

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017

There is a lot to catch you up on around here, so let’s get to it, shall we?

First and foremost, my very first Amish-based women’s fiction novel, Portrait of a Sister, is officially available for pre-order wherever you buy your books. It will be available in trade paperback, digital, and, eventually, large print. Pre-orders are very important to the publishers as it helps determine print runs, etc. So if you know you’re going to give this book a try, perhaps consider pre-ordering.portrait pseudo cover revealsmaller

As for the book, itself, the cover is pretty much done, but I can only offer this photographic tease at the moment (the official reveal is set for another day 🙂 ).   FYI: This is me with my wonderful editor at Kensington Publishing in NYC…

One thing I can share is the jacket copy, so here goes…

Katie Beiler was always the follower to her twin sister Hannah’s lead. That is until Hannah left their Amish upbringing for an English life—leaving Katie to find her own footing in a world that no longer looks as it once did . . .

Katie has always imagined her life being just like Mamm’s. It’s why she chose baptism and why she’ll soon marry Abram Zook. But ever since Hannah left, the only thing that truly makes Katie smile is the sketchpad in which she indulges her talent for drawing faces—a sin that, if discovered, could get her shunned by her family, her friends, and even Abram. Yet Katie sees her secret pastime as the only way to quiet a growing restlessness she’d just as soon ignore. That is until their Mamm’s untimely death brings Hannah back home to Pennsylvania, with a new outlook on life, a man she adores, and, soon, an invitation for Katie to visit her in New York City.

Suddenly, Katie is experiencing a freedom she’s never had, in a world she never imagined. She’s also spending time in the company of a fellow dreamer, someone who sees her as strong and brave and makes her laugh. But it’s when Hannah shows Katie’s drawings to a gallery owner that she truly finds herself at a crossroads between the only life she’s ever known and the powerful lure of an unfamiliar future.

Sound good? I think you’ll really enjoy taking this journey with Katie as she tries to figure out what life is best for her.

In addition to all the excitement in getting ready for Portrait of a Sister, I’ve also been doing some traveling. Some was to visit friends and family, some was to meet readers of my various series.

Here are just a few pictures from my last few weeks of book-related travel…

medinasigning3This was from a signing at The Book Shoppe in Medina, NY in October. So, too, is this next one (I’m sitting with fellow author, Lynn Cahoon)…

These next few are from a murder mystery train I did in Lockport, NY. I got to meet new readers, as well as spend time with some readers who have read me for years–all while being dressed as a gangster (the theme of this particular murder mystery train)…

And then it was on to Toronto, for the annual Bouchercon Mystery Convention. What a treat it was to see more longtime readers like Dotty from N.C…

Maybe I’ll get to meet you at an event one day, too!

Until next time…

30 Second Death is Out

Thursday, July 13th, 2017

30 second death_ebook

Tobi Tobias Mystery # 2 (aka 30 Second Death) is now available!  The digital version is just $4.99. There is also a trade paperback size available for those who prefer print books. You can purchase the book at your favorite online book vendor. If you haven’t yet started the series, Death in Advertising is waiting for you at just $3.99 for the digital.

As for the book, here’s the back cover copy:

To help an old friend, Tobi Tobias gets a third-rate thespian a part in a commercial, and learns that in the advertising business, bad acting can lead to murder . . .

When Tobi Tobias opened her own advertising agency, Carter McDade was there for her every step of the way. A brilliant hairdresser, Carter has just landed his dream project: doing hair and makeup for a theatrical production of Rapunzel. But the dream turns into a nightmare when he runs into Fiona Renoir, a cruel, talentless starlet who won’t let Carter touch a hair on her head.

To get Fiona out of Carter’s hair, Tobi hires the difficult actress for a bit part in her latest commercial. But true to character, Fiona is a terror on set, and Tobi is starting to think she’s made the biggest mistake of her life. But things get even worse when Fiona drops dead in the hairdresser’s chair, and the only suspect is the man left holding the tainted hair dye, Carter McDade. And unless Tobi can prove his innocence, he’ll never do hair in this town again.

A bit more curious about the characters?  You can read a blog post written by my main character, Tobi Tobias, HERE (for book # 1, Death in Advertising).    And you can read a blog post written by her best friend, Carter McDade, HERE (for 30 Second Death).

Next up?  And Death Goes To… (book # 3 in my Tobi Tobias Mysteries) will be out December 5th.   Dial M For Mousse (Emergency Dessert Squad # 3) will be out January 2nd.   Amish # 6 will be out in late winter/early spring.   Portrait of a Sister, my first ever Amish-based women’s fiction novel, will be out in summer 2018.

Hugs!
